The brief.

The problem. A children's book imprint was launching its first original IP — a story about a tiny cloud learning to rain — and needed an illustration world warm enough to live in for a 32-page picture book.

The solution. A soft, hand-painted cloud cast in cream-on-amber, with two-tone backgrounds, deliberately gentle linework, and a colour script that walked the reader from morning to night across the book.

"Parents tell us they get asked to read it three times in a row. That's the only metric that matters."- Anya M., Publisher
How it came together

The process.

Three phases. No hand-waving. Here is how the work actually got made.

Step 01

Discover

Deep-dive sessions, audience research, and a clear-eyed audit of what was working and what was not.

Step 02

Concept

Multiple directions explored in parallel - typography, palette, mark variations - then narrowed to one.

Step 03

Build

Production-grade systems, asset libraries, and the toolkit the in-house team uses every day after launch.
